From the first sight it is difficult to distinguish active volcano Gorely from the massif but the group of the different craters situated on its top part is considered to be unique. The culmination of climbing is the biggest and beautiful crater of the volcano filled with very beautiful acid lake of the turquoise colour. Volcano Gorely of 1 829 m high is a ridged massif lifting from the bottom of the ellipse caldera. Formerly it was a shield-like volcano with a diameter of the base about 30 km. Its central part descended having created the huge caldera, after this the eruptions occurred through several craters having appeared on its bottom. The rests of the old volcano surround the caldera with a low ridge.

Each of the craters on the top of the volcano has its particular qualities but together they create unique ensemble. Caldera of volcano Gorely is a geological nature monument.

Tour program:

07:45 Gathering of group at shopping center “Piramida”.

08:00 Departure to the volcano plateau near volcano Gorely by the car (110 km, 3 hours). The car part of the itinerary goes in the south direction through Paratunka zone and then up along the river-valley Paratunka. Risen along the steep serpentine on 1 kilometer high, the route goes to the pass where the magnificent panorama on river-valley Paratunka, volcanoes Viluchinskiy, Mutnovskiy, Gorely opens.

11:00 Tea-party with sandwiches. Preparation for climbing.

12:00 Climbing volcano Gorely. Climbing is not difficult, it goes along the old lava-flows, the slag fields. Kekurniks, the consolidated lava rests of the different forms have a special interest. Climbing takes 3 hours. The altitude difference is about 900 m. At the top – snack. Watch of the principal craters of the volcano. Return to the camp by the same itinerary. The total climbing takes 6-7 hours.

19:00 Return to the car. Super.

19:30 Leaving for Petropavlosk-Kamchatskiy.

21:30 Arrival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy to the shopping center “Piramida”.
