DAY 2
Excursion to Pushkin (also known as TsarskoeSelo) with visit to Catherine's Palace
The ensemble of the Catherine's Palace and Park are among Russia's top historical recreation complexes visited by hundreds of thousands tourists every year. Built for Empress Elizabeth by Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the architect of St.Petersburg's Winter Palace, the Catherine Palace is undoubtedly Tsarskoe Selo'stop attraction, particularly renowned for the extraordinary Amber Room. Lesswell known, and currently much more dilapidated, the Alexander Palace isnonetheless a neoclassical masterpiece, and has a particularly poignantconnection with the family of the last Tsar, Nicholas II.

The Saviour on the spilled blood - This marvelous Russian-style church was built on the spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881.
St. Isaac's Cathedralis the largest cathedral in St. Petersburg. It was the largest church in Russia when it was built (101.5 meters high), and is still the third largest domed cathedral in the world. For visitors willing to climb 300 steps, it provides a spectacular view of St. Petersburg.
The Sampson Cathedralis one of the first churches in St. Petersburg. It stands on the spot where Peter I in 1709 built a wooden church in memory of the victory at Poltava. Composition typical of ancient temple architecture - topped the bulbous head faceted dome on a high drum with dining room and a multi-tiered hipped bell tower, topped with a bulbous head.
The Kazan Cathedralin Saint-Petersburg - the orthodox temple, located in the heart of the city. The facades of the temple are to Nevsky prospect and Griboedova channel. This is one of the largest buildings in the Northern capital.

- Excursion in Yusupov Palace
Once the residence of Prince Felix Yusupov, one of the richest men in Russia, thisspectacular mansion has a more practical feel than some of the royal palaces,but manages to dazzle visitors nonetheless. It is probably best known as thesite of mystic Grigori Rasputin’s murder in 1916; unhappy with the peasant’sstrong influence over Empress Alexandra Fedorovna, Yusupov and other members ofthe imperial family killed Rasputin in the building’s cellar. If you are interested in Russian history orthe legacy of the Romanov family, you should enjoy the Murder of Rasputin Tour,offered several times a day.
